Naomi Yanos is a Harlem native artist-songwriter-producer. Yanos’s music is inspired by surrealist art’s emphasis on unconscious associations coupled with the angst of their alternative songwriting heroes Mitski and Tori Amos. Their upcoming debut album, Into the Icebox is set to release on February 20th. Into the Icebox is an ethereal and gritty album that deals with self imposed isolation. They released their EP “Rock in the Forest” in February of 2025, as an alternative rock response to their previous experimental ambient EP “Trying to Keep My Toes.” Both deal with themes of dissociation and the desire to move past maladaptive habits. Yanos performs regularly in New York City at venues such as Gold Sounds, Wonderville, Heaven Can Wait, The Meadows BK, Bushwick Public House and has shared the stage with bands such as Pinc Louds and The Worst as well as playing a packed 200-cap room at Wesleyan University this fall. They are a recent graduate of NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded music at Tisch School of the Arts, where they earned a BFA in Recorded Music.
Yanos has been honing their performance skills since their preteen years touring the east coast singing rock and blues songs (with artists such as Jon Anderson (of Yes,) Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan,) and Gibby Haynes (of the Butthole Surfers)) and performing in New York City clubs and bars. By high school Yanos learned Ableton and Logic in order to have creative freedom over their sonics and has been producing ever since. Other than music, Yanos enjoys being an extra on film sets, photography, reading while riding the MTA bus service to the end of the line, dancing with friends, and 3D printing.
